Industry, Research and Energy

Miriam is a substitute member of the Industry, Research and Energy Committee (ITRE). Here she is actively involved in the Union’s industrial policy and related measures, the application of new technologies, including measures related to SMEs. She is also responsible for legislations on the Union measures relating to energy policy in general and in the context of the establishment and functioning of the internal energy market, including measures relating to the security of energy supply in the Union, the promotion of energy efficiency and energy saving and the development of new and renewable forms of energy, the promotion of interconnection of energy networks and energy efficiency including the establishment and development of trans-European networks in the energy infrastructure sector.

In ITRE Miriam was appointed the shadow-rapporteur if the Innovation in the blue economy dossier, that is focusing on innovation in Europe’s maritime economy from the production of clean energy to the development of new, sustainable industries in fields as diverse as bio-tech and aquaculture.

In the ITRE committee I was also appointed as the shadow-rapporteur on the Blue Economy dossier. This dossier is focusing on innovation in Europe’s maritime economy from the production of clean energy to the development of new, sustainable industries in fields as diverse as bio-tech and aquaculture.
