Ix-xogħol huwa importanti biex wieħed itejjeb il-qagħda ekonomika tiegħu iżda daqstant ieħor huwa importanti il-ħin li wieħed iqatta’ mal-familja. Il-Membru Parlamentari Miriam Dalli qalet dan waqt li indirizzat attività politika f’San Ġwann.

Dr Dalli spjegat kif matul dawn l-aħħar snin kienet imbuttat ‘il quddiem il-kunċett ta’ leave li jinqasam bejn il-ġenituri wara t-twelid ta’ tarbija skont il-htiġijiet tal-familja biex iż-żewġ ġenituri ikollhom ċans igawdu lit-tarbija.

Issa l-ewroparlamentari Laburista se tkun qed tenfassiza tlett punti oħra li permezz tagħhom il-familji jistgħu jgawdu minn aktar bilanċ bejn il-familja u x-xogħol, b’dawn ikunu aktar implimentazzjoni ta’ teleworking fejn dan ikun possibli, implimentazzjoni ta’ siegħat flessibli fil-post tax-xogħol u aktar proġetti pubbliċi fejn il-familji jistgħu jgawdu l-ħin liberu tagħhom.

“Huwa b’hekk li nistgħu nassiguraw kwalità ta’ ħajja aħjar lill-familji tagħna. Wara kollox aktar bilanċ bejn il-familja u x-xogħol jista’ faċilment jipprevenji problemi aktar serji b’mod partikulari b’rabta mas-saħħa mentali”, sostniet Dr Dalli.

Matul din l-attività l-MEP Dalli tkellmet ukoll dwar il-vot li għadda din il-ġimgħa fil-Parlament Ewropew b’rabta mal-fond ta’ €10.4 biljun bil-ghan li jiġu mgħejjuna pajjiżi li qegħdin fil-fruntiera tal-UE, bħal Malta, biex ikunu jistgħu, fost l-oħrajn, jirrilokaw immigranti li jaslu f’pajjiżhom u jirritornaw dawk l-immigranti li ma jkollhomx dritt li joqogħdu fil-pajjiż.

Dr Dalli wieġbet ukoll mistoqsijiet ta’ dawk preżenti b’rabta ma’ Brexit, il-ħidma tagħha fuq il-kanċer u r-riċerka u l-innovazzjoni kif ukoll dwar il-viżjoni tagħha għall-parteċipazzjoni ta’ aktar nisa fil-politika u kif nistgħu nassiguraw li t-teknoloġija u l-ħolqien tax-xogħol jimxu id f’id.

Malta: The Next Level – balancing work and family life

Whilst work is important to live a financially independent life, spending time with one’s family and loved ones is also very important, Member of European Parliament Miriam Dalli has said.

The Labour MEP was addressing a political activity in San Gwann during which she fielded several questions on different topics.

Dr Dalli explained how during the past legislature she advocated for the concept of family leave to be divided between both parents, depending on the family’s needs and allowing both parents to spend time with their child.

Miriam Dalli is advocating for three measures that would enable achieving a balance between family life and work. These are the implementation of teleworking, flexible hours and more projects providing open spaces where families can spend their free time.

“Through the implementation of these measures we can ensure a better quality of life for our families. After all, a balance between family life and work can also help prevent other serious problems, included those related to mental health,” Dr Dalli emphasised.

During the Q&A session, MEP Dalli also spoke about the recent vote in the European Parliament, approving a €10.4 billion fund. The Fund is aimed at providing support to Member States, including frontline States like Malta. Through the use of this Fund, countries can also fund relocation measures and other measures supporting an efficient asylum system including returning persons whose request for asylum has been rejected.

Miriam Dalli also fielded questions on Brexit and other questions related to her work including on matters such as cancer, research and innovation, increasing women participation in politics and how technology could serve as a vehicle for job creation.
