‘Miriam Dalli l-aqwa Membru Parlamentari Ewropew fl-aħħar ħames snin’ – Joseph Muscat

Il-Prim Ministru Joseph Muscat u l-eks deputat prim ministru Louis Grech jindirizzaw it-tnedija tal-kampanja elettorali ta’ Miriam Dalli, bit-tema ‘Malta: il-Livell li Jmiss’

Miriam Dalli hija “l-aqwa Membru Parlamentari Ewropew” li Malta kellha f’dawn l-aħħar ħames snin u li dejjem kienet hemmhekk, tagħmel l-argumenti tagħha b’mod tajjeb ħafna meta Malta kienet fil-mira inġustament.

Hekk qal il-Prim Ministru u mexxej tal-Partit Laburista Joseph Muscat waqt it-tnedija tal-kampanja elettorali ta’ Miriam Dalli għall-elezzjonijiet tal-Parlament Ewropew. Bit-tema ‘Malta: il-Livell li Jmiss’, Dr Dalli se tkun qed tibni fuq ħames snin ta’ ħidma li matulhom għamlet minn Malta prijorità.

To cut a long story short, Miriam Dalli kienet l-aqwa Membru tal-Parlament Ewropew fl-aħħar ħames snin. Għamlet ħidma b’saħħitha ħafna. Nies bħali u bħal Louis nistgħu ngħidu għax nafu l-kuntest li kienet fih,” qal il-Prim Ministru, filwaqt li rrefera għall-eks deputat prim ministru Louis Grech li wkoll indirizza s-serata.

“Iffaċċjajna sitwazzjonijiet bla preċedent fejn bħalha partit ġejna ffaċċjati b’sitwazzjonijiet ta’ kritika inġusta u sitwazzjoni ta’ min qed jipprova jħassar għax mhux qed jilgħab hu,” qal il-Prim Ministru.

“B’wiċċi minn quddiem nista’ ngħid li Miriam, flimkien ma sħabha Alfred Sant u Marlene Mizzi dejjem sibthom.” Dr Muscat kompla billi rrangrazzja lil Miriam Dalli tal-ħidma tagħha biex tiddefendi lil Malta minn interessi partiġġjani.

Żied jgħid li l-idea tal-livell li jmiss tfisser li wieħed jara li jkompli jwettaq aktar għall-pajjiż.

Minn naħa tiegħu, Louis Grech qal li Miriam Dalli ħadmet “b’mod qawwi u impressjonanti” fuq materji li jolqtu liċ-ċittadini Ewropej filwaqt li qatt ma nsiet li Malta hija l-prijorità tagħha.

“Miriam kellha l-kuraġġ li taħdem fuq issues li jaħarqu. Li hi temmen li huma ta’ ġid għaċ-ċittadini tal-Unjoni iżda jistgħu joħolqu kontroversja ma’ lobby groups b’saħħithom. Jien naf mill-esperjenza tiegħi kemm din mhix xi ħaġa faċli li tagħmilha,” żied jgħid Louis Grech, b’referenza għal-liġi dwar l-emissjonijiet mill-karozzi.

“Għamlet xogħol ta’ kwalità b’dixxiplina u impenn u enerġija fuq ammont ta’ materji oħra. Miriam kellha l-kapaċità li tinseġ konnessjonijiet u networks biex tressaq il-pożizzjoni tagħha u ta’ pajjiżna kemm fil-familja politika li tappartjeni kif ukoll barra minnha.”

L-attività ġiet indirizzata wkoll minn Maria Brown, li tkellmet dwar kif f’Miriam Dalli tara mara li tiġġieled l-isterjotipi u li tisfida dak li jkun hemm bżonn fil-mument.

‘Miriam Dalli is best MEP we had in last five years’ – Joseph Muscat

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and former deputy prime minister Louis Grech address Miriam Dalli’s campaign launch for the European Parliament elections, ‘Malta: il-Livell li Jmiss’

Miriam Dalli is the “best Member of the European Parliament” Malta has had during these past last five years, who has been always there making her arguments solidly whenever Malta was being targeted unfairly, Prime Minister Joseph Muscat said.

Dr Muscat was addressing the launch of Miriam Dalli’s electoral campaign for the European Parliament elections. Having chosen the slogan ‘Malta; il-Livell li Jmiss’ – Malta: the next level – Dr Dalli aims to continue building on five years of making Malta a priority throughout her work.

“To cut a long story short, Miriam Dalli was the best MEP in the last five years. She worked hard and persons like Louis [Grech] and myself know this very well because we understand the context she worked in,” the Prime Minister said.

“As a party we have faced an unprecedented situation where we were faced with situations of unjust criticism and a situation of someone trying to distort the games just because they’re not playing.

“I can openly say that Miriam was always there, together with her colleagues Alfred Sant and Marlene Mizzi.” Dr Muscat went on to thank Miriam Dalli for her work in defending Malta against partisan interests.

Making reference to Dr Dalli’s chosen theme, the Prime Minister said that the next level meant that one kept on working and doing more for the country.

Taking the floor, Louis Grech said that Miriam Dalli worked “strongly and impressively” on matters that impact European citizens whilst never forgetting that Malta was her priority.

“Miriam had the courage to work on controversial issues. Matters which she knew are of benefit to citizens but which are also controversial with strong lobby groups. I know from my own experience that this is not easy to tackle,” Louis Grech added.

“Her quality work was carried out with discipline, commitment and energy on several other issues as well. Miriam had the ability to form connections and networks to push forward her position, and that Malta, within the S&D political group as well as beyond.”

The event was also addressed by sociologist Maria Brown, who described Miriam Dalli as woman who fights stereotypes.
