“Dan huwa ż-żmien li nagħtu imbuttatura lil setturi industrijali li jgħaqqdu flimkien it-tkabbir ekonomiku u l-promozzjoni ambjentali, partikolarment it-tibdil fil-klima.” Il-Membru Parlamentari Ewropew Dr Miriam Dalli qalet dan waqt żjara fil-faċilitajiet tal-kumpanija Jmartans Automation Ltd. li tispeċjalizza fuq sistemi li jippromwovu l-effiċjenza enerġetika f’kumpaniji, bini u residenza.

“Spiċċa ż-żmien li nitkellmu dwar l-ekonomija u l-ambjent daqs li kieku huma żewġ setturi maqtugħa minn xulxin. Dan huwa żmien ta’ mudell industrijali innovattiv li jħares lejn tkabbir ekonomiku li hu wkoll ambjentalment sostenibbli,” żiedet tgħid Miriam Dalli.

Dr Miriam Dalli appellat għal investiment akbar u inċentivi aktar b’saħħithom għal industriji li jindirizzaw l-effiċjenza fl-użu tal-enerġija. Il-mira fuq livell Ewropew hija li sal-2030 ikun hemm titjieb fl-effiċjenza tal-użu tal-enerġija ta’ 32.5% u fl-istess waqt sal-2030 tniġġis minn karozzi ġodda jrid jonqos b’37.5%.

Għalhekk li Malta trid tkompli tagħti s-sehem tagħha biex dan jintleħaq permezz ta tfassil ta’ policies u inċentivi.

Is-sistemi li jistgħu jassiguraw effiċjenza fl-użu tal-enerġija huma vasti u jinkludu fost l-oħrajn sistemi li jikkontrollaw temperaturi fil-binjiet u sistemi li jikkontrollaw il-ħin li fih jintefa’ d-dawl.

“Dawn huma kollha inizjattivi li minnhom jistgħu jgawdu l-familji u n-negozji Maltin u Għawdxin għax joffru kwalità ta’ ħajja aħjar u return on investment tajjeb fuq perjodu ta’ snin. Fl-istess waqt, ikunu qed jgħinu biex nindirizzaw it-tibdil fil-klima”, kkonkludiet Miriam Dalli.

Min-naħa tiegħu id-Direttur tal-kumpanija Jmartans Jonathan Grech spjega kif huwa stmat li industriji jew kumpaniji kbar jiffrankaw bejn 20-30% mill-konsum tal-enerġija meta jimplimentaw sistemi ta’ automation. Grech qal li policies u incentivi jridu jkunu kkumplimentati b’aktar għarfien dwar l-effett u l-importanza ta’ dawn is-sistemi.

MEP Miriam Dalli calls for stronger incentives to support energy efficiency

“This is the time to encourage those industrial sectors that combine together economic growth and the environment, particularly to support the fight against climate change,” MEP Miriam Dalli said during a visit at JMartans Automation Ltd.

JMartans Automation Ltd is a company specialising in automation systems which promote energy efficiency for companies, buildings and homes.

“We cannot separate the economy from the environment in our discussions as if the two are completely different worlds. This is the time where an innovative industrial model looks at economic growth which is also environmentally sustainable,” added Miriam Dalli.

Dr Miriam Dalli called for more investment and stronger incentives for industries that address energy efficiency. The EU target is to improve energy efficiency by 32.5% until 2030. This is why Malta has to do its part to reach this target through policies and incentives.

Systems which ensure that energy is used efficiently are vast and include amongst others systems which control temperature in buildings and light control.

“These are all measures which can benefit families and businesses in Malta and Gozo as they offer a better quality of life and a return on investment over a period of years. At the same time, they will be contributing to address climate change,” concluded Miriam Dalli.

Jonathan Grech, Jmartans’ Director explained that it is estimated that industries or company can save between 20-30% of energy consumption when implementing automation systems. Grech said that policies and incentives need to be complimented with more awareness about the effect and importance of installing such systems.
