€250,000 investment for renewable energy on government buildings
With a €250,000 investment, around ten government buildings will benefit from photovoltaic panels reaching up to 15kWp. Ministries, Government Departments and public entities interested in this initiative are encouraged to submit their expression of interest, were €25,000 are being allocated for each project.
This initiative was announced by the Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development Miriam Dalli together with the Energy and Water Agency Chief Executive Manuel Sapiano.
“The public sector is giving more visibility as through this initiative we are promoting renewable energy so that as a country we continue moving towards decarbonisation. With this initiative we will generate 240MWh per year, of which means 100 tonnes less CO2 emissions per year,” remarked Minister Dalli.
Minister Dalli added that the public service is an example on shifting towards renewable energy through generation of renewable energy.
“Through this initiative we are ensuring stability, whilst addressing climate change, as well as improving air quality,” concluded Minister Miriam Dalli.
The scheme will contribute towards the country’s target on Renewable Energy established in the National Plan for Energy and Climate, where public buildings are identified as an important resource for the installation of renewable energy.
This initiative will aim to achieve three Sustainable Development Goals :
- SDG 7 – Affordable Clean Energy
- SDG 13 – Climate Action

L-Kwart ta’ miljun f’investiment għal enerġija rinnovabbli fuq binjiet tal-Gvern
B’investiment ta’ €250,000 se tkun qed tinħareġ sejħa biex madwar għaxar binjiet governattivi jibbenefikaw minn pannelli fotovoltajiċi. Kull applikazzjoni se tkun qed tilħaq il-massimu ta’ madwar 15kWp.
Għalhekk Ministeri, Dipartimenti tal-Gvern u entitajiet pubbliċi li jkunu interessati għandhom jissottomettu Espressjoni ta’ Interess, fejn qed jiġu allokati €25,000 għal kull proġett.
Dan tħabbar mill-Ministru għall-Enerġija, l-Intrapriża u l-Iżvilupp Sostenibbli Miriam Dalli flimkien mal-Kap Eżekuttiv tal-Aġenzija għall-Enerġija u Ilma Manuel Sapiano.
“Din l-inizjattiva se tkompli tippromwovi l-enerġija rinnovabbli, filwaqt li tingħata viżibilità aħjar lis-settur pubbliku biex bħala pajjiż inkomplu nimxu ’l quddiem lejn id-dekarbonizazzjoni. Permezz ta’ din l-inizjattiva qed jiġi stmat li se jiġu ġġenerati madwar 240MWh fis-sena, fejn se jkunu qed jiġu ffrankati madwar 100 tunellata t’emissjonijiet ta’ CO2 fis-sena,” irrimarkat il-Ministru Dalli.
Il-Ministru Dalli żiedet tgħid li s-servizz pubbliku qed ikun ta’ eżempju għall-qalba lejn enerġija rinnovabbli biex b’hekk tiġi ġġenerata enerġija minn sorsi rinnovabbli. “Qed inkomplu nassiguraw stabbilità, filwaqt li nindirizzaw it-tibdil fil-klima, biex b’hekk inkomplu ntejbu kwalità ta’ arja aħjar,” kkonkludiet il-Ministru Miriam Dalli.
