Is-servizz tal-ġbir tal-kontenituri minn wara l-bieb tad-dar estiż għal madwar Malta u Għawdex kollha
Il-Gvern qed ikompli jsaħħaħ is-servizzi ambjentali fil-lokalitajiet u viċin il-komunitajiet, permezz ta’ investiment ta’ madwar €1.2 miljun f’vannijiet ġodda u sistema tal-IT speċjalizzata biex il-proġett pilota tal-ġbir tal-kontenituri tal-BCRS jinfirex madwar Malta u Għawdex kollha.
Ħabbru dan waqt konferenza tal-aħbarijiet, il-Ministru għall-Ambjent, l-Enerġija u l-Indafa Pubblika Miriam Dalli u s-Segretarju Parlamentari għall-Indafa Pubblika Glenn Bedingfield, fil-preżenza tal-Kap Eżekuttiv ta’ Circular Economy Malta, l-Inġinier Jason Vella u d-Direttur Ġenerali tad-Diviżjoni għat-Tindif u l-Manutenzjoni, Ramon Deguara.
Ġie spjegat kif minn Lulju li għadda, id-Diviżjoni varat proġett pilota li beda f’20 lokalità u li aktar tard ġie estiż għal 30 lokalità madwar Malta. Fi żmien biss tmien xhur, b’żewġ vannijiet ta’ single-input, inġabru madwar 1.3 miljun kontenitur, riżultat li juri kemm ir-residenti qed jipparteċipaw f’dan is-servizz.
Il-proġett kien imsaħħaħ bit-twaqqif ta’ call centre b’sistema ta’ IT speċjalizzata żviluppata minn professjonisti Maltin, li tippermetti li l-bookings jidħlu b’mod awtomatiku u li l-operat ikun aktar organizzat u effiċjenti.
Il-vannijiet il-ġodda, li huma mgħammra bit-teknoloġija innovattiva ta’ Returmatic, kumpanija Ungeriża li tispeċjalizza f’dan il-qasam, se jkomplu jtejbu l-operat. Filwaqt li sa issa kull vann seta’ jaqdi madwar 40 residenza kuljum, bit-teknoloġija l-ġdida din il-kapaċità mistennija titla’ għal madwar 60 residenza kuljum, żieda sostanzjali fl-effiċjenza tas-servizz. Dawn is-6 vannijiet ġodda, huma mgħammra b’sistema li jieħdu bulk-inputting minflok single-inputting.
Dan ifisser li aktar familji se jkunu jistgħu jibbenefikaw minn servizz modern li jagħmilha aktar faċli biex in-nies jirriċiklaw u jagħtu s-sehem tagħhom favur il-kawża ambjentali.
Is-Segretarju Parlamentari Glenn Bedingfield spjega kif, “Dan huwa eżempju ċar ta’ kif il-Gvern jisma’ lin-nies u jaġixxi. Meta rajna r-rieda tar-residenti li jipparteċipaw aktar fir-riċiklaġġ, intervjenejna biex noħolqu servizz li jagħmilha aktar faċli għal kulħadd. B’dan l-investiment u bl-espansjoni tas-servizz fuq livell nazzjonali, qed inkomplu nagħtu lin-nies l-għodda u s-servizzi moderni li għandhom bżonn biex pajjiżna nieħdu ħsiebu.”
Il-Ministru Miriam Dalli qalet, “Dan is-servizz estiż huwa eżempju ċar ta’ kif politika ambjentali hija wkoll politika soċjali. Qed inġibu s-servizz eqreb lejn in-nies, speċjalment dawk li għalihom l-aċċess jista’ jkun aktar diffiċli. Kulħadd għandu sehem x’jagħti fejn tidħol ir-responsabbiltà ambjentali. Iżda biex dan iseħħ, trid tkun aċċessibbli għal kulħadd. L-għan tagħna jibqa’ wieħed ċar: Sistema li taħdem, sistema li tilħaq lil kulħadd, u sistema li tagħti lil kull ċittadin opportunità li jipparteċipa.”
Preżenti għal din il-konferenza tal-aħbarijiet kien hemm ukoll is-Segretajru Permanenti tal-Ministeru Joseph Caruana, il-Kap Eżekuttiv ta’ Returmatic Péter Vida, flimkien mas-Sindki u s-Segretarji Eżekuttivi tal-Kunsilli Lokali kollha ta’ madwar Malta u Għawdex illi issa ser ikunu qed igawdu minn dan is-servizz.

Door-to-door container collection service extended to all of Malta and Gozo
Government is continuing to strengthen environmental services within localities and close to communities through an investment of around €1.2 million in new vans and a specialized IT system, enabling the pilot project for the BCRS container collection service to be expanded across all of Malta and Gozo.
This was announced during a press conference by the Minister for the Environment, Energy and Public Cleanliness, Miriam Dalli, and the Parliamentary Secretary for Public Cleanliness, Glenn Bedingfield, in the presence of the CEO of Circular Economy Malta, Inġ Jason Vella, and the Director General of the Cleansing and Maintenance Division, Ramon Deguara.
It was explained that since last July, the Division launched a pilot project that began in 20 localities and was later expanded to 30 localities across Malta. In just eight months, using two single-input vans, around 1.3 million containers were collected, a result that demonstrates strong resident participation in the service.
The project was further strengthened through the establishment of a call centre supported by a specialized IT system developed by Maltese professionals. This system allows bookings to be processed automatically and makes operations more organized and efficient.
The new vans, equipped with innovative technology from Returmatic, a Hungarian company specializing in this sector, will further improve operations. Until now, each van could serve around 40 residences per day, but with the new technology this capacity is expected to increase to about 60 residences per day, representing a substantial improvement in efficiency. The six new vans are equipped with a bulk-input system instead of the previous single-input method.
This means that more families will be able to benefit from a modern service that makes it easier for people to recycle and contribute to environmental protection.
Parliamentary Secretary Glenn Bedingfield explained that “this is a clear example of how the Government listens to people and takes action. When we saw residents’ willingness to participate more in recycling, we intervened to create a service that makes it easier for everyone. With this investment and the expansion of the service nationwide, we are continuing to provide people with the modern tools and services they need to take care of our country.”
Minister Miriam Dalli added, “This expanded service is a clear example of how environmental policy is also social policy. We are bringing the service closer to people, especially those for whom access may be more difficult. Everyone has a role to play in environmental responsibility, but for that to happen, the system must be accessible to all. Our goal remains clear: a system that works, a system that reaches everyone, and a system that gives every citizen the opportunity to participate.”
Also present at the press conference were the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Joseph Caruana, the CEO of Returmatic, Péter Vida, as well as mayors and executive secretaries from local councils across Malta and Gozo, who will now benefit from this service.
