Minister for the Environment, Energy and Enterprise Miriam Dalli, together with the Chamber of Commerce, the Family Business Office and Malta Enterprise, launched training courses aimed for family businesses.
Family businesses amount to more than 70% of small and medium enterprises, and face particular challenges that require different needs. The training courses will be offered for free, and sessions will be held online on social media platforms such as Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn. The sessions focus on how family businesses have to adapt their business if they want to ensure their existence.
Minister Miriam Dalli urged family businesses to be at the forefront in adapting these processes to be resilient.
“It is not always easy for these businesses to adapt to certain processes, such as recruiting non-family members, set up a board, adapt to new technologies or to perform auditing processes and management that are well-known on a global level. These are the challenges that we need to address if we want the Maltese economy to continue to be competitive and resilient, as well as addressing the needs of our businesses. As a government, we are offering assistance to businesses and continuous training for employees; however the operations deserve all the support during the renewal of the business,” explained Minister Miriam Dalli.
The sessions have been drafted by Chairperson of the Family Business Committee within the Chamber of Commerce Silvan Mifsud. He remarked that, “Challenges brought by the pandemic and the new challenges faced due to geopolitical tensions require family businesses to have better structure, take strategic decisions, and be more flexible and more efficient to adapt to the needs of the market that they operate in. To achieve this aim, we felt the need to offer training specifically in this regard”.
Dr Joe Gerada, the Regulator of the Family Business Office, explained how these sessions are additional tools amongst other schemes offered by the Family Business Office in collaboration with the Malta Enterprise. “Through the knowledge gathered from meeting with these businesses on a daily basis, we felt the need to provide these sessions, whilst we urge all those interested to participate in this short course.”
“It is a pleasure for us to assist family businesses with these training sessions. This goes beyond other schemes available for businesses, including providing operations assistance; schemes to improve processes to make businesses more sustainable and digital; investment in machinery and offering training to employees. All this
whilst offering a holistic assistance, so that local businesses will continue to flourish and be resilient,” stated Malta Enterprise CEO Kurt Farrugia.
Training sessions can be accessed on Chamber of Commerce social media platforms as from 20th June. Registration link: https://www.chamberorganizer.com/Calendar/moreinfo_responsive.php?eventid=422562&org_id=MLTA&fbcl id=IwAR0t8wh1HkcWO38ZENy4lvobNI10AlsrMTMsWaxS7lVFR0yxUC6Lcow3SHo

In-negozji ta’ għada: kors ta’ taħriġ għan-negozji tal-familja
Il-Ministru għall-Ambjent, l-Enerġija u l-Intrapriża Miriam Dalli, flimkien mal-Kamra tal-Kummerċ, ir- Regolatur għan-Negozji tal-Familja u l-Malta Enterprise, nediet kors ta’ taħriġ immirat proprju għan-negozji tal- familja.
Dawn in-negozji, li jammontaw għal madwar 70% tal-intrapriżi żgħar u medji, jaffaċċjaw sfidi partikolari u għandhom ukoll ħtiġijiet partikolari. Dan il-kors ta’ taħriġ se jkun qed jiġi offrut b’ xejn lil kull min hu interessat u s-sessjonijiet se jkunu qed jiġu mtella’ online fuq il-mezzi soċjali bħal-Facebook, Youtube u Linkedin. Is- sessjonijiet jiffukaw fuq kif negozji tal-familja għandhom jadattaw in-negozju tagħhom jekk jixtiequ jassiguraw l-eżistenza tagħhom.
Il-Ministru Miriam Dalli ħeġġet lin-negozji tal-familja sabiex ikunu minn ta’ quddiem nett li jadattaw il-proċessi li hemm bżonn sabiex jibqgħu jkunu reżiljenti.
“Mhux dejjem ikun faċli għal negozji li jadattaw ċertu proċessi bħal reklutaġġ ta’ nies li mhumiex membri tal- istess familja, li jitwaqqaf bord, li jħaddnu teknoloġiji ġodda jew li jdaħħlu proċessi ta’ awditjar u mmaniġjar li huma magħrufa fuq livell globali. Dawn huma l-isfidi li rridu nindirizzaw jekk irridu li l-ekonomija Maltija tibqa’ kompetittiva u reżiljenti, kif ukoll inħarsu l-ħtiġijiet tat-tmexxija tal-intrapriżi tagħna. Bħala Gvern, noffru assistenza fuq l-operat tal-intrapriżi, u taħriġ kontinwu għall-impjegati, però t-taħriġ lit-tmexxija tal-operat jixraqlu li jsib l-appoġġ tagħna fil-ħidma u t-tiġdid tiegħu,” spjegat il-Ministru Miriam Dalli.
Il-kontenut ta’ dawn is-sessjonijiet ġie mfassal miċ-Chairperson tal-Kumitat għan-Negozji tal-Familja fi ħdan il- Kamra tal-Kummerċ, Silvan Mifsud. Huwa rrimarka kif, “L-isfidi li ġabet magħha l-pandemija u sfidi ġodda bħala riżultat tat-tensjonijiet ġeopolitiċi jeħtieġu li n-negozji tal-familja jkunu strutturati aħjar, ikunu aktar strateġiċi fid-deċiżjonijiet tagħhom u aktar flessibli u effiċjenti sabiex jadattaw għall-eżiġenzi tas-suq li joperaw fih. Għal dan l-għan ħassejna l-bżonn li jiġi offrut taħriġ li jkun speċifikament imħejji f’dan ir-rigward.”
Ir-Regolatur tal-Uffiċju tan-Negozji tal-Familja Dr Joe Gerada spjega kif dawn is-sessjonijiet huma għodda oħra fost skemi addizzjonali li jmexxi l-Uffiċju tar-Regolatur, anke b’ kollaborazzjoni mal-Malta Enterprise. “Fl- esperjenza tagħna, li niltaqgħu ma’ dawn in-negozji minn ġurnata għall-oħra, nagħrfu l-bżonn ta’ dawn is- sessjonijiet u nappellaw lil kull min hu interessat sabiex isegwi dan il-kors qasir.”
“Bi pjaċir inkomplu nassistu lin-negozji tal-familja b’ dawn is-sessjonijiet ta’ taħriġ. Apparti d-diversi skemi li għandna apposta għal dawn in-negozji, il-Malta Enterprise għandha wkoll diversi skemi oħra li jassistu fuq l- operat; titjib tal-proċessi biex ikunu iktar sostenibbli u diġitali; investimenti f’ makkinarji u anke fejn jidħol taħriġ lill-impjegati. Qegħdin noffru pakkett ħolistiku ta’ assistenza sabiex l-intrapriżi lokali jibqgħu jiffjorixxu u jkunu reżiljenti,” sostna l-Kap Eżekuttiv tal-Malta Enteprise Kurt Farrugia.
Is-sessjonijiet jistgħu jiġu segwiti fuq il-mezzi soċjali tal-Kamra tal-Kummerċ mill-20 ta’ Ġunju ’l quddiem. Link għar-reġistrazzjoni: https://www.chamberorganizer.com/Calendar/moreinfo_responsive.php?eventid=422562&org_id=MLTA&fbcl id=IwAR0t8wh1HkcWO38ZENy4lvobNI10AlsrMTMsWaxS7lVFR0yxUC6Lcow3SHo
