An infrastructural project aimed at the reinforcement of electricity supply in Baħrija and its surroundings has been launched. These works are being carried out following discussions between the Ministry for Energy, Enterprise and Sustainable Development, Enemalta and the Rabat Local Council.
Through these works, residents will benefit from a new electricity supply system that addresses inconveniences these residents have been facing for years.
Baħrija’s population has continued to grow steadily but, up until 2013, the infrastructure was significantly behind. In fact, until a few years ago, there was no drainage system in the area. Since then, the government has invested millions to give families access to a common drainage system.
The government is now taking another important step to improve the residents’ quality of life, with an investment which will modernise the electricity’s infrastructural system. These residents have been faced with interruptions in electricity supply and low voltage.
In discussions between Minister Miriam Dalli, Enemalta representatives and Rabat Mayor Sandro Craus, a decision was taken to carry out the substantial investment in this area.
The works include the laying of cables and the modernisation of substations.
“Enemalta is committed to continue reinforcing the distribution system in our country. This is one of a series of projects Enemalta is undertaking as part of its five-year-plan,” stated Minister Dalli.
Mr Craus thanked the government for this investment and emphasised the importance of this project for residents.

Proġett biex tissaħħaħ il-provvista tal-elettriku fil-Baħrija u l-madwar
Jingħata bidu għal proġett infrastrutturali biex tissaħħaħ il-provvista tal-elettriku fil-Baħrija u l-madwar. Ix- xogħol qed isir wara diskussjonijiet bejn il-Ministeru għall-Enerġija, l-Intrapriża u l-Iżvilupp Sostenibbli, l- Enemalta u l-Kunsill Lokali tar-Rabat.
Permezz tax-xogħlijiet li qed isiru, ir-residenti se jkunu jistgħu jgawdu minn sistema ġdida ta’ provvista tal- elettriku li tindirizza l-inkonvenjent li ffaċċjaw ir-residenti għal snin twal.
Il-Baħrija hija lokalità li qed tkompli tikber fin-numru ta’ residenti. Sa qabel l-2013, l-infrastruttura kienet ferm lura. Fil-fatt, sa ftit tas-snin ilu lanqas sistema ta’ drenaġġ ma kien hemm. Għalhekk, tul dawn is-snin, il-gvern investa l-miljuni sabiex kull familja tkun imqabbda ma’ sistema ta’ drenaġġ komuni.
Issa l-gvern qed jagħmel pass ieħor importanti fit-titjib tal-ħajja tar-residenti, b’investiment li se jkun qed jimmodernizza s-sistema infrastrutturali tal-elettriku. B’mod partikolari, għal snin twal ir-residenti ffaċċjaw problemi ta’ qtugħ ta’ dawl u vultaġġ baxx.
F’diskussjonijiet bejn il-Ministru għall-Enerġija Miriam Dalli, rappreżentanti tal-Enemalta u s-Sindku tar-Rabat Sandro Craus, ġie deċiż li jsir l-investiment f’din il-lokalità.
Ix-xogħol jinkludi tqegħid ta’ cables u modernizzar ta’ substations.
“L-Enemalta hija impenjata li tkompli ssaħħaħ is-sistema ta’ distribuzzjoni f’pajjiżna. Dan il-proġett huwa wieħed minn sensiela ta’ proġetti li l-Enemalta qed taħdem fuqhom bħalissa bħala parti minn pjan ta’ ħames snin,” qalet il-Ministru għall-Enerġija Miriam Dalli.
Is-Sur Craus irringrazzja lill-gvern li se jkun qed iwettaq dan l-investiment filwaqt li saħaq dwar l-importanza ta’ dan il-proġett għar-residenti.
